What is FedRAMP 20x?
FedRAMP 20x is the latest major iteration of the FedRAMP program that was announced on March 24, 2025. This initiative is designed to accelerate FedRAMP authorization processes, aiming to streamline cloud security approvals and reduce the time it takes for cloud service providers (CSPs) to achieve authorization. It focuses on efficiency improvements and automation to help agencies adopt secure cloud solutions more quickly.
This overhaul of the program is a direct response to feedback from CSPs and other stakeholders that the existing FedRAMP Rev. 5 authorization process is too expensive, time-consuming, and challenging. FedRAMP 20X aims to move away from costly, inefficient, and manually compiled documentation towards real-time, data-driven security reporting, with the industry leading the way on these changes through community working groups.
