What is a CAGE Code?
A Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code is a five-character alpha-numeric identifier assigned to entities located in the United States and its territories in order to support a variety of procurement and acquisition processes throughout the US government. CAGE codes are primarily used to identify contractors and suppliers for the Department of Defense (DoD).
These codes can only be assigned and updated by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) CAGE Program Office.
To receive a CAGE code in order to do business with the U.S. government or to support any Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirement, you must register with the System for Award Management (SAM). During the registration process, you will be assigned a Unique Entity ID and CAGE code.
This CAGE code is needed in order to submit Level 1 or Level 2 assessments into the Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS).
